Gregory Gardens School opened its doors to students more than 60 years ago in March 1952.  In the 70's the campus was expanded, under the guidance of Robert Shearer, to include a state-of-the-art preschool for children with special needs.  Due to dwindling enrollment, Gregory Gardens Elementary School (which included grades K-8,) closed from 1982 to 1994.

During those years Gregory Gardens Preschool remained open and became a nationally known program.  In 2009 Gregory Gardens Preschool was renamed Robert R. Shearer Preschool after its founder.

Today, 18 years after re-opening, Gregory Gardens Elementary is once again a center of thriving community activity.  Together, Gregory Gardens Elementary, Robert Shearer Preschool and the Preschool Assessment Center form a diverse campus that provides unique opportunities for our students to interact with each other.
